Otherwise, the bluetooth works well but I agree with a review I read which said the speaker volume is on the low side. It does give you the choice to have multiple stops, so that can sometimes be a way around the problem. This GPS works well. If it is possible to customize the desired route, I have not been able to figure out how to do this.
I like that it gives me fair warning when I am approaching a turn ahead (I've been around other GPS systems that practically tell you when you are mid-turn). I am very happy with this purchase. Overall, a great investment. I like that the screen is easy to read. I am not high tech AT ALL. I love that this GPS is extremely user-friendly.
It's well built, user friendly, and doubles as an MP3 player and a "hands-free" blue-tooth device in your car. I have not had a single problem with my Nuvi and I use it daily. It has so many features and all of them are usable without subscription except for the "traffic" feature.
I had it set up with my phone, and if I am walking around talking on my phone and I get too close to my car the Garmin and my phone will connect and I am still about 50 feet from my car. 3-D mode is cool to look at but unless you drive 20 miles per hour all the time it is not useful at all. I think the 780 comes with the MSD Direct and it is only about $20.00 more than the 760. It is a great unit overall, my complaints are as follows.
Just set it to up or north and normal resolution and you will be just fine. It will let me know about delays and reroute me if needed. I have more than enough spots to save locations. You can click on your icon and it will let you know where you are. The 760 is a replacement for my stolen 750. I wanted the 760 but I believe it was about $750.00 last year when I got my 750. It is not a video game so you do not need to set it to max. Just go to the Garmin web sight and check your coverage before you buy one with a receiver cord.
I do not get the traffic updates here but all the other tools are cool. I had to take my Garmin off the list on my phone.As far as navigation this is a great unit. The addresses are a little off but I think that is common for most GPS units unless you spend big time money. But with the MSN direct it is awesome in large cities. My second and main complaint is the unit came with the FM traffic receiver. I have the newest maps and in some cases it has streets that are not there yet.
So in May when my 750 was stolen I took a look at Amazon.com and was thrilled that I could get the 760 for about $200.00. I guess my last complaint would be the Bluetooth. I purchased the MSN Direct and it is great. In 3-D mode you drive past a street and then about 5 seconds later the Garmin catches up. I live in Boise, ID and we have no FM traffic coverage here.
It was only discontinued because its successor has additional features like lane assist and MSN connections I don't need, and that's only free for a limited amount of time, and I don't make use of it so the trial perios would expire and I wouldn't re-subscribe, so I'd end up with a gps that provided virtually the same things the 760 does.The interface takes some getting used to, especially if you are used to using TomTom gps, which is what I upgraded from. The gps unit works very well. Easter eggs are hidden, unpublished features, like on the 760 you can press the satellite strenght indicator for a few seconds and a screen will open showing you the individual satellites' status.Great product, Amazon shipped it promptly. Some of the "easter eggs" are interesting and useful. Even though it's a discontinued model, it does everything I need and more. It wasn't discontinued due to problems.
